pre 1840s MARTINs....All made by CF senior?
"That guitar has been with me since the 1960s ...
I told you if I sold it to anyone it would be you because I know that you know what it is .. but I am not ready to part with it.
I don't even think there is a price for me .. no question that it was built by CF and his immediate proteges.
Mike Longworth told me that at that time the shop only had one master .. CF.. and he had only three other employees from the 1840s to the early 1850s .. so CF's DNA was on every guitar from the period as auteur and they worked as a small group .. just as they do now in custom shops.
One man carves neck .. one works body sides and top ..one makes boards etc. and the does all and master finishes.
Maybe Szego knows more .. he wrote that book?* happy
I'll find you a 2-27 .. there are still nice ones to be found .. I'll find them."
